Antibiotic resistance is a growing global health threat that poses significant challenges to the treatment of bacterial infections. The emergence and spread of multidrug-resistant pathogens have rendered many conventional antibiotics ineffective, leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. This review explores the latest trends in antibiotic resistance, including the mechanisms of resistance development, the epidemiology of resistant pathogens, and the clinical implications for patient care. antibiotic resistance includes the proliferation of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs), carbapenems, and other resistance mechanisms that confer resistance to multiple antibiotic classes. The widespread use of antibiotics in healthcare settings, agriculture, and veterinary medicine has accelerated the evolution of resistant strains, exacerbating the problem of antibiotic resistance on a global scale.
